To Sandy
by Cathryn Hosking (nee Sexton)
As one of Fleur's older sisters it was a pleasure to welcome Sandy into our family. Sandy was a unique man who had a special quality that was unique of being Sandy. Only after a few months of going out with Fleur he became uncle Sandy to my children and formed a very special bond with my oldest son James who gained his love of cars from uncle Sandy.
My fondest memories of Sandy are the Christmases that Fleur and Sandy spent at our dairy farm in Cornwall. On Christmas morning Sandy would pull on his wellingtons and lend a hand to the milking before coming in and helping cook the Christmas dinner — the one and only time of the year he would be seen in the kitchen as Fleur would often inform me.
Sandy touched people's lives far and wide; even in the depths of the West Country he is remembered for the guy who always had time to speak to anyone he met.
The one thing that always shone out about Sandy was his love of farming and he would often tell the Cornish people he met about his family farm in Scotland. My life is richer through knowing you Sandy and I will always ensure your son, my nephew, will know what a wonderful father he had.
Love always,
Cathryn
